Worker pleads guilty to tampering with public records in child abuse cases

Whitney Adams pleaded guilty Thursday morning to tampering with public records.

Adams was sentenced to 5 years probation and community service.

Adams was accused of lying about her investigations in dozens of cases while working for the Crimes Against Children Division of the Arkansas State Police.

In one instance described in court documents, Adams was assigned to a case involving a girl who was burned on a stove. Adams originally said she did a face-to-face interview, but later admitted she did not.

In another case, Adams failed to interview anyone in a case where a boy said he was sexually assaulted at the age of 3.
